I am Brazilian and I have been living in Vancouver for the last 5 years. My first graduation was in physiotherapy and I was always fascinated by pelvic physiotherapy and sexual dysfunctions, in which I, later, got my specialization. My studies allowed me to see how the body works in its complexity and my specialization put me in contact with the universe of pregnancy, which I love and I have been working since 2010.
But I was not satisfied. I studied another 5 years and graduated in Osteopathy and Pediatric Osteopathy from the Madri School of Osteopathy.
I learned from the teachings of the creator of Osteopathy, Andrew T. Still, some philosophical principles. Some of them are:
1) “The unity of the human body”. If one of its systems is not working properly, this will cause the others to suffer;
2) “The structure governs the function”. What does not have its proper movement is not correctly employing its function; and
3) “Find it, fix it, and leave it alone”. Believe in the power of self-healing, because “the body has a natural ability to self-regulate and self-heal”.
What does all that mean? Well, it means that Osteopathy tries, with manual manipulations and minimum stimuli, to help the body heal itself. By this method, we can increase pacients’ well-being. We cannot forget that health is a combination of physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
With all the new knowledge and experiences, my field of work opened up. I’ve been able to treat people from age zero up to 100, including high-performance athletes of the most diverse sports.
In 2018, I graduated in Osteopathy, got married, and moved to Canada.
In Vancouver, I had the opportunity to become a Doula by the DONA International Institute. So I started working, once again, with pregnant women, births, and a whole universe of challenges and achievements.
As an Osteopath or as a Doula, I care for all my patients having the Osteopathy philosophy as the base.
My goal is to intervene the least possible and leave the body to act in its maximum capacity to heal itself.
